The Kingdom of God Bible Storybook
Tyler Van Halteren
Illustrated by
Aleksander Jasinski

A recent and beautiful addition to the storybook Bible list. This is currently our go to storybook Bible for Bible story days in the current iteration of our curriculum (5yo and 3yo).
Synopsis
Four volumes covering the OT, NT, wisdom lit, and parables, respectively comprise this excellent set. Starting in Genesis in the OT volume, the story bible highlights major events throughout the bible in chapters that stand alone as story units. Text stays very close to the Bible, even quoting it at times. Emphasis is on the overarching story of redemption throughout the Bible.
What I Love
The stories in this Bible are longer than most storybook bibles and can be engaging for an older audience. He stays very close to biblical text, even quoting phrasing, and focuses on telling the facts more than interpreting. He does still tie things together to point toward the broader gospel story. The pictures are colorful and engaging. I think this keeps the kids attention well and invites them into the story, extending the age range younger. They are more realistic than cartoon images but not so realistic as to be creepy or photograph-like. They’re a perfect middle ground in my opinion.
Weaker points
I love the illustrations, but if you’re not fond of realistic-ish representations of Christ and/or other Bible characters, then you might not be as fond of them. They’re not so realistic as to be creepy or scary though. The questions on the summary page for each story are often fairly fundamental (think basic reading comprehension questions).
