Our Story
When my oldest began kindergarten in the public school system I set out to find a Bible curriculum that I could use to teach a Bible class at home. Nothing I found quite fit the bill--everything seemed to be integrated with home school curricula or not structured for a home format. As I contemplated what to do, I realized I didn't need a pre-fab curriculum per se. I just needed books and songs and crafts and other fun things that would help me expose my kids to the true stories of the Bible and the foundations of theology in a kid-friendly way that would foster a child-like love for God and a curiosity to learn more about Him. I also didn't want a sappy family devotional that would force my children to answer cringey questions. I just wanted the kids to enjoy learning about God like how they might enjoy art class or swim lessons.

As I discussed these thoughts with my husband, I remembered my favorite Bible class from my childhood in a private Christian school. My first grade teacher used Bible time to simply tell us Bible stories orally. I still remember those stories. I don't know how she did it. She was a master storyteller and she clearly knew and loved God's Word. Realizing how something as simple and beautiful as storytelling had had such an impact on me, I began exploring what books and music were available to aid me in telling my kids the same stories.

Fast forward to middle and high school and I had the opportunity to learn theology first hand from my seminary-trained father, an experience which dramatically shaped my faith and impressed upon me the value of exposing kids to theological ideas. So, I also set out to find books and resources that would enable me to expose my children to theology and church history in kid-friendly terms.

Over my first few years as a new mom I had encountered a handful of delightful books presenting the gospel to kids, and I am deeply indebted to the friends who graciously gave or told me about these books--to the mother who gave me The Garden The Curtain and The Cross at my first baby's baby shower, to the friend who diligently rebuilt our church's children's library and told me about her favorite new story Bible (The Kingdom of God Bible Storybook), to the church intern who introduced us to the Jesus Storybook Bible in the church's membership class years ago, to the family friend who gifted us one of Ellie Holcomb's books, to the friend who suggested Slugs & Bugs was good car ride music, to my community group leader who gifted us Love Made when our second child was born, to the friend who built her own toddler curriculum for church Sunday school with Christian board books. I am so thankfully to each one of these friends whose seemingly small acts opened my eyes to a wealth of resources available. My prayer is that in sharing these resources here others will be impacted in similar ways.

To my surprise, with some time and effort, and input from dear friends on the same mission, I dug up quite a number of more delightful resources that have really blessed our family. Not only have I seen my children grow in their knowledge and understanding of God, but I have also found myself really digging into the Word to prepare for discussions with them and to answer their questions. And in this quest to help my children, I discovered, for the first time in my life, how delightfully refreshing it is to be regularly in the Word.

After watching our children delight over learning about God and His Word, I felt called to share the resources and structures that had (and are still having) such a profound impact on our family.

This is a work in progress--as I build my own family curriculum and discover more resources and ideas, I will continue updating the site. If you would like to receive notifications of new content, feel free to subscribe!

About Me
I live with my husband and three sweet children in St. Louis, MO. We're both biochemists by training. When I'm not running around with the kids or working on HBS, I also teach science communications at Washington University in St. Louis. In our spare time, our family enjoys gardening, hiking, and camping. We are members of a Presbyterian church and love our church family dearly.
What We Believe
We adhere to the historic creeds of the church (The Apostles' creed and The Nicene creed). We believe:
-
God is eternal, all knowing, and all powerful. He exists as a trinity--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
-
Jesus is God incarnate
-
The Bible is the inerrant, inspired Word of God
-
We are all sinners and are saved solely by grace through faith in Jesus' death and resurrection
