Lent & Easter Books

The Friend Who Forgives
Dan DeWitt
Catalina Echeverri
Ages:
4-7
A warm and inviting retelling of the story of Peter denying Jesus and then being forgiven on the beach. Details draw the reader in. Was my three year olds favorite book. Deep enough content for older kids, but the delivery is so elegant it works for younger kids too.

Miracle Man The Story of Jesus
John Hendrix
John Hendrix
Ages:
4-7, 8-12
A delightful and unique book that takes a creative first hand look at highlights from Jesus ministry, including the last supper and death and resurrection. Illustrations are stunning and draw all ages in. Text invites a deeper, fresh lok at what a first hand experience with Jesus might have been like.

The Story of God Our Savior
Kenneth Padgett & Shay Gregorie
Aedan Peterson
Ages:
4-7, 8-12
A beautiful retelling of the story arc of scripture, with an empahsis on the hurt caused by sin, failed chances at redemption, and the perfect salvation only possibly through Christ. The illustrations are moving and the story if poignant. A fresh and memorable perspective on the story we've heard over and over.

Benjamin's Box
Melody Carlson
Jack Stockman
Ages:
4-7, 8-12
Story follows a pretend boy living at the time of Jesus and watching the events of Holy week unfold. He collects tidbits for memories and keeps them in his special box. These items correspond with items in the coordinating Resurrection Eggs. But books also works on its own.

Darkest Night, Brightest Day
Marty Machowski
Ages:
8-12
A two-week devotional covering the events of holy week and just after, leading up to the ascension and pentecost. Each entry has scripture references, 1-2 pages of reading, an illustration, and a few questions. Reading is fairly dense, so it's best for ages 6+

The Garden The Curtain And The Cross
Carl Laferton
Catalina Echeverri
Ages:
0-3, 4-7
A delightful book that tells the overarching redemption story of the Bible, but with a focus on the purpose of the cross. Details such as the curtain being torn are described in clear concrete detail in a way that makes the book very engaging and moving. Meaningful to a very large age range.
