This book walks through a lot of different elements of the oceans and shares fun, educational facts about them. It's all tied together with easy-to-read prose and thematic Bible verses. Kids drawn to encyclopedia-style books (think DK books) will love this!
Synopsis
Each two-page spread features the main text which gently reflects on some facts about a certain element of the ocean, more in depth fun-facts scattered around the page, and then a related Bible verse. It starts broadly, introducing the oceans on the global map, then moves to currents, and from there to the different zones of depth and which creatures live in them. It ends with reflections on stewardship, and what we can learn from the oceans about who God made us to be. What I Love
This book is very tastefully made. None of the Bible verses feel forced or awkward. None of the discussion around creation enter into disucssion of how or when, inviting all view points to apprecaite the book. The colorful illustrations draw in the youngest readers, and the detailed fun facts give the older readers something to dwell on. My children love this book.
Weaker points
While I don't peronsally think this is a negative for this type of book, be aware that there is not plot or storyline with character development to draw attention. It's built to inspire reflection on facts and scripture, and at that it does very well.

Tina Cho is a Christian author and educator who has written several books. This is the second in this series. She also wrote one about astronomy.
