Love Made

EE-OT Unit 1, Bible Story, Picture Book, Creation

A dramatic, dynamic, simple retelling of creation, with a focus on creation being an overflow of love. It is abstract and does not describe specific days of the creation narrative in Genesis, so it avoids interpretation conflicts. The end shifts to describing in a little kid friendly way that love between parents begets children. The focus is on the theme that love creates. This book is part of a three-part series.
Synopsis
The book starts with the trinity enjoying each other and then describes creation as an overflow of that joy. It briefly describes the creation days and then focuses on creating people. It reflects on how delighted God was to enjoy His creation and then takes that idea of love creating to explain that a mothers and fathers love created the child the book is being read to.
What I Love
The book is engaging even for a young audience in spite of being about abstract concepts. The illustrations are bright, dynamic, and engaging and play very well with the text. I love how it draws young readers in and invited them to understand complex ideas in simple terms. This story does a beautiful job of emphasizing important theological ideas from creation like being made in God's image. I enjoy reading this book to my kids over and over.
Weaker points
This book is focused on a very narrow and simple message about creation, which is well delivered. But if you’re looking for something that engages with the entire creation story, this is not that. It briefly mentions creations "days", but in a manner that is equally abstract and poetic as the mention of them in Genesis.
