Noah's Ark
Jerry Pinkney
Illustrated by
Jerry Pinkney
Picture Book, Bible Story, EE-OT Unit 1

This retelling of the story of Noah and the flood remains biblically accurate while providing details and beautiful illustrations that bring the story to life for children.
Synopsis
The story starts with God's disappointment with the choices and behavior of the people on earth. It then talks through the building of the ark, the calling of the animals, the rain and the flood, the dove searching for land, and ends with God's promise with the rainbow.
What I Love
This book feels like a good balance between inspiring conversation around the story but still not declaring details outside of scripture as fact. The illustrations are realistic, making the story feel like a real event, which has a neat effect.
Weaker points
In an effort to stay true to scripture, and in a manner that creates a sort of ethereal effect, the story looks details, character development, and commentary. It really just describes in poetic language each stage of the story of Noah. This works, but also leaves the reader feeling less connected to the story than it could.
