This book organizes all of the content of the Bible into 6 parts and presents them all in timeline formats, with lots of illustrations and photographs. It is a delightful way to provide visual context for the vast amount of history in the Bible. There are occasional maps, and explanatory pages sprinkled throughout.
Synopsis
From Creation to the early church, each of 6 parts (Creation, Promised Land, One to Two Kingdoms, Exile, Messiah, early Church) opens with an intro and then has multiple two-page spread timelines that walk through each major event from that era chronologically. There are also pages of text and maps that provide more explanation and context. The back of the book contains 1 overarching summary timeline of the whole Bible.
What I Love
This book is full of information and organized in a manner that is highly accessible. The clean formatting and images invite the reader in--even young kids enjoy looking at the pictures.
Weaker Points
Use of this book with younger kids requires creativity--there is no narrative to read, so the user has to coach the child through looking at the timeline. But, the simplicity of the book is what makes it so useful and timeless.
